Zegerid OTC Acid Reducer increases absorption of its active ingredient, Omeprazole, to quickly alleviate painful symptoms caused by frequent heartburn. When taken as recommended, Zegerid OTC Acid Reducer gently and effectively calms stomach acid and helps to prevent heartburn and acid reflux. Zegerid OTC® is the only 24-hour frequent heartburn treatment that contains two active ingredients: the leading prescription acid reducer (omeprazole), plus a second ingredient (sodium bicarbonate) that protects the omeprazole from acid in the stomach — so it can be absorbed by the body and get right to work treating frequent heartburn. Zegerid is used to treat heartburn and other symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Zegerid is also used to treat certain type of ulcers, or to promote healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to your esophagus caused by stomach acid). Zegerid OTC acid reflux medicine provides 24-hour protection from burning discomfort when taken once daily before eating. Each capsule contains a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) clinically proven to reduce acid at the source.
